Check your equipment

The last thing you want is to arrive at the destination of your long-anticipated camping trip, to find your equipment is unsuitable or faulty. Or, imagine you go to get the cooker going only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack the gas cylinder?

And let us not forget about comfort. After all,  there’s nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable when you’re far from home. So, to make the most of your camping experience, consider comfort a priority.

It’ll never hurt to double-check that you have adequate sleeping bags, blankets, the correct outdoor clothing, and other camping accessories needed to make your trip worthwhile.

We recommend creating a checklist before your camping trip. This will help you to get organised and ready to go out exploring.

Plan where you’re going in advance

This part of the process is usually quite exciting! We recommend giving a lot of thought to where you want to go. Consider multiple destinations.

Whether you fancy a trip down the coast or a forest getaway, the UK has a lot to offer and you’re likely to find a camping route to suit everyone.

If you’re going on a solo trip, you’ll only need to focus on what you want to experience. If you’re planning a group trip, why not meet up to brainstorm? This is a great way to get the group talking about what they want from the camping experience!

Plan a camping staycation

It’s no secret that staycations have been a very popular choice for campers due to the rise of COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Many have been pleasantly surprised by just how much there is to explore and discover across the UK. So, just because most restrictions have now been lifted – doesn’t mean that you can’t still enjoy a great staycation again this year.

The UK is home to many hidden gems and natural hotspots that are well worth a visit. So, if you’re looking for a hassle-free way of making the most of camping this year, we’re certain that researching beautiful campsites and destinations across the UK won’t leave you feeling disappointed.

Wild camping

If you’re not comfortable with visiting a campsite just yet, there’s no reason why you still can’t make the most out of camping in 2022. Why not consider wild camping?

Wild camping is an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re taking a solo trip or going with loved ones, when you’re wild camping you’ll have access to views like no other.

Be mindful of the laws and regulations in place when out on a wild camping trip, as this type of camping trip isn’t permitted in some areas of the UK.

It’s important to make sure you check the laws of where you plan on camping before arrival to avoid disappointment. With that being said, as long as you’re in a permitted spot whilst camping, there’s no need to worry.

Just as you would at a campsite, remember to leave your area clean. Wild camping is for experiencing what nature has to offer – there’s no excuse to leave behind rubbish or equipment you no longer require.

Back garden camping

If you can’t fit a camping adventure into your schedule this year, there’s still no need to miss out. If you’ve enjoyed a couple of camping experiences in your back garden over the past couple of years, there’s no reason why you can’t continue to do so.

Back garden camping is a great way to still have all the fun of being outdoors without having to leave home. We understand that making the most out of camping after living through a pandemic will mean something different for everyone, and there’s no reason why you can’t continue the fun in the back garden.

Bring your dogs

On any other holiday, your pets would likely require a sitter or a short stay with a friend. If you want your dogs to be involved this year, there are many campsites across the UK that welcome furry family members. Plan your meals in advance

Planning your meals ahead of time will ensure that you won’t miss out on any favourites whilst on a camping holiday. You don’t have to be a foodie to enjoy a great meal cooked outdoors!

Whether it’s hearty favourites such as pasta dishes or grilled crowd-pleasers from the BBQ, outdoor cooking equipment can do it all nowadays. Don’t settle for just roasting marshmallows when you can have it all!

Here at Winfields Outdoors, we offer an extensive selection of outdoor cooking equipment that’ll no doubt enhance your entire camping trip. From the best Ooni portable pizza ovens to advanced portable gas barbecues, we have it all right here. To discover our full cooking and eating range, click here.

Camping with loved ones

The time has finally come when you can create memories again with loved ones. What better way to make the most out of camping in 2022 than to do so with your favourite people?

Camping trips offer quality time with loved ones whilst experiencing new environments. This is a great opportunity to ditch electronic gadgets and mobile phones and reconnect with your closest friends and/or family.

Making the most out of camping could mean fishing, board games, and great conversation around the campfire. For others, it’ll mean adventurous hikes, grilling up a feast, and soaking up the sun.

Making the most out of camping in 2022 is subjective, but it’s easier when you’re surrounded by the people you cherish the most.
